If you’re running a marketing campaign and want your marketing video to stand out, it’s important to choose the right music for it. This goes for running a successful podcast as well. The music that plays in the background is often more important than you think and can impact on your commercial or show positively or negatively depending on what you’ve chosen to use.

I’m a freelance music composer (see more on me if interested!) and have worked on commercials, advertising videos, music for podcasts, YouTube channels, games, films and more. It’s an extremely rewarding experience to work with talented individuals who understand the value that music has and can bring when used well. It is also amazing to see those marketing campaigns and shows succeed. So, here are my 5 reasons why I believe music can really help your marketing video or podcast to be successful:

1. Great music is memorable

So, if you’ve chosen your music for your videos carefully, there is a much greater chance of that music and the content of your video to stick in people’s minds than if you had generic, non-memorable music.

2. Music gets people in the right frame of mind

It sets the tone and the mood for what you’re video is all about if done well. So, whether you’re trying to sell something, sell yourself or to inform people about something, the music can get people in the right mood to engage with that message.

3. Great music captures and keeps people’s attention

If you choose the music for your channel and videos wisely, you will be sure to maintain people’s attention throughout your video. Otherwise, generic music can become quite boring and repetitive. You don’t want people dozing off just as your content gets to the important bits do you?

4. Quality music shines

People can usually tell when they’re listening to high quality music or not. By ensuring that yours is of a professional quality, helps you and your brand to come across as polished professional.

5. Keep things fresh and interesting

People like to see and hear fresh content. Think about how your content could be different and go for it. That includes the music too. Fresh, new music can go along way in supporting the growth of your channel or marketing campaign. Your fresh and new content or product deserves fresh, new music to go with it!
